The big advantage of using well-known music for your media production is that it will immediately be recognised by your audience. It will take just a few seconds to get into the energy and emotion of the music. Sometimes the original recording of the music is just perfect for the job. Don’t touch it, we say. Sometimes a variation on a well known tune (re-recording) is the better option, to match your production even better.
A new style with updated lyrics
For Etos, advertising agency NEEW asked us to transform the famous dutch song “Papa” (Daddy) by Stef Bos, into “Mama” (Mommy). Which makes perfect sense, since it’s for the Mother’s Day campaign.
On top of that, we came up with a modern and intimate approach for the song. Performed by singer Zoë Low, the song comes to life in a surprising new way.
Spotify, Tidal & Socials
The commercial is only 20″ long, but still manages to spark recognition of the song in such a short amount of time. This is a truly strong point of any great song. But don’t worry, there’s a single version too. We recorded the full length song and Zoë released it on Spotify & Tidal. Be sure to check that out and let us know what you think.
The song is also available in the libraries of TikTok and Instagram, where you can use it as an underscore for your stories.
Last but certainly not least, there is a making-of for the song. It was shot in one of our three recording studios, where we recorded the vocals that are on both the commercial and the single version. It’s a great way to learn a little more about Zoë and her mother too.
